What is the need for creative writing?

Google constantly tweaks its search algorithms to deliver the most relevant content to visitors searching online and if your content does not get to the first page on Google, it misses majority of relevant traffic, because very few go beyond the first page results.

In simple words, 99.99% of the content posted online never makes it to the Google,s first page. That’s bad, but why? Because the content lacks quality, depth and impact. Most often such content is a copy paste run-of-the-mill matter scraped off the internet. For Google, this is simply trash.

Also, no one wants to read those boring 3 – 4 line comments with an anonymous link which look like churned out of some seedy spam factory.

The big question is why people write stuff that is just a waste or time? Who will read it anyway?

Ask yourself, why should Google rate your content as No.1? Is it original? It is credible? Is it exhaustive? It is easy to understand? Does it have reference links? Does it help people?

People expect more. Average is no longer enough. It has to be the best and only then it reaches the maximum people. So, this is how you can create content that guarantees not only top ranks on Google for the topic it targets, but also gets your business steady stream of relevant audience and ever increasing customer leads.

Tips for writing quality content

      • Headline – Define your content with a catchy headline. This is more important than you think. Boring headlines almost never get clicked, even if they reach top ranks. Scratch your head and come up with a one liner that defines the essence of your content and it better be good.
      • Content – Divide your content into paragraphs, each with a unique heading and explanation. Start from the topic itself – explain what it is and how this will help. Share your enthusiasm in words and throw in some spicy facts to hook the audience and incite them to read further. Before you let your creative juices flow, let me tell you that spelling mistakes and improper grammar are big turnoffs, so read and review everything before you share it online. Keep your content short, crisp and to the point. 300 words is about ok. If your content is about product reviews, and comparisons then make sure it sounds honest and without any bias.
      • Links – Relevancy is everything, so post links (which open in another tab) where your audience can get further information if they so choose. You can add links to your website, product page, another webpage, an article on Wikipedia, reference websites, etc. Make sure it works before you publish your content.
      • Pictures –  The right pictures will not only boost your content rating but also keep your readers interested for more, so do your research and find royalty free pics, relevant quotes, memes etc that add impact to your presentation.
      • Videos – If you are posting content related to travel, products or something which visitors would prefer to see, then include videos to your content.Use a decent camera or even your stabilized mobile to capture video clips and make a short movie using inshot ( android app for mobile) in a jiffy. Load this video on youtube and embed it in your content with the code. This will allow people to spend more time on your webpage and add stars on your shoulders.

Creating quality content takes time, but then it is totally worth it.

Benefits of effective content writing

There are 4 major benefits of original content:

      1. People love it. Interesting, well written, engaging content is what people seek, so this is what we need to provide to them.
      2. It connects you with people. If the content helps the readers by providing useful insights, facts, data and comparison, it connects well with them.
      3. It proves your knowledge and builds trust. Business is all about gaining trust. Before you sell your products, you need to sell yourself and you content is your introduction card online.
      4. It is great for SEO. Search engines give top ranks to content which is unique, exhaustive and relevant to the given topic.

Consider an average content writer who shares a 100 worthless posts and gets 1 or 2 clicks / month on the links while a really good creative writer does just 5 genuinely creative posts in a month and captures top ranks on Google with its unique, immersive content, reaching steady traffic of relevant audience and gets hundreds of clicks every week. What will you choose to be.

If you are a content writer this is an opportunity to develop your writing skills and make yourself better. Remember, if what you are posting is not  worth reading, there is no point posting it.
