What is ISP license?

• • ISP license is needed for running Internet services or Data services in India.
  • You can provide internet services like Leased Line/Broadband /VOIP /IP TV etc.
  • It is mandatory for Company to have UL ISP for providing ISP services for a certain area.
  • Issuing Authority – Department of Telecommunication Delhi.
  • The Government of India has allowed Private Sector’s Company to apply for Internet Service Provider (ISP) License to start their own ISP Business.
  • This license is commonly known as Unified License (UL). Private Sector Company’s can apply for ISP license for different areas under Unified License.
  • Validity for this license is 20 years.

What is VNO License?

• • VNO license is needed for running Internet services or Data services in India.
  • You can provide internet services like Leased Line/Broadband /VOIP /IP TV etc.
  • VNO is affordable, less complicated, convenient and ideal for small level ISPs.
  • Issuing Authority – Department of Telecommunication Delhi.
  • A Virtual Network Operator is an internet service reseller extending high-quality network and management services to other networking companies that do not possess their own telecom setup.
  • A VNO (Virtual Network Operator) License is a miniature version of an ISP license. • Validity for this license is 10 years

Difference between ISP & VNO License

• • With an ISP license, you can run internet services on a larger domain.
  • ISPs who wish to operate small level internet service only in a particular territory can choose a VNO license instead of an ISP license.

Who can get ISP License?
To apply an ISP license in India, you need a registered company under the Companies Act, 2013.
Registration SEVA can also help you in getting the Company registered. Company can be a Private Limited Company or Public Limited Company. It’s mandatory that in MOA it should mention Internet Service Provider (ISP) as a service.

Who can get a VNO License?
To get the approval of VNO ISP license you should be a company registered under Companies Act `ie your company should be private limited and in MOA it should be mentioned that you can act as Internet Service Provider(ISP) as a service`

You can select the category in which you want to apply for the UL ISP License, opt between A, B or C category.
