According to Wikipedia “Search engine optimization is the process of increasing the quality and quantity of website traffic by increasing the visibility of a website or a web page to users of a web search engine. SEO refers to the improvement of unpaid results and excludes direct traffic/visitors and the purchase of paid placement.”

SEO helps small business owners create fast, robust, and user-friendly websites that rank higher in search engines, which in turn helps bring more qualified potential customers to their sites and eventually increases conversion rates. SEO involves making certain changes to website design and content that make a site more relevant to search engines.

SEO is a methodology of keywords, strategies, techniques and tactics used to increase the amount of visitors to a website by obtaining a high-ranking placement in the search results page of a search engine (SERP) — including Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines.

Your SEO keywords are the keywords and phrases in your web content that make it possible for people to find your site via search engines. A website that is well optimized for search engines “speaks the same language” as its potential visitor base with keywords for SEO that help connect searchers to your site.

In other words, if you want your business to reach top search engine ranks, you need to focus on SEO. With good SEO, your website appears on top ranks whenever someone searches (keywords) for your products and services, bringing in relevant website traffic and increasing possibility of sale.

Here are a few pointers to good SEO:

    • Meta Tag.
    • Heading Tag(H1 – H6)
    • Sitemap.
    • Robots.txt.
    • Optimize website speed.
    • Adding keyword on Title & Description.
    • Checked duplicate content (Duplicate Content Detection Software)
    • Use Alt Tag.

Now, that is pretty much basic, but what about the content?

Unless you have a relevant, original, creative and interesting content which uses the same keywords in content, your SEO will never be complete.

SEO can be On Page ( for website) and also Off Page ( for social networks) which is essential for digital marketing campaigns. Off page SEO refers to techniques your can use to improve the position of a web site in the search engine results page (SERPs). Many people associate off-page SEO with link building but it is not only that.

Organic click-through rate is a good KPI to measure the quality of your website. If web searches like what they see, they’ll dig deeper into your site. A CTR is a straightforward metric: It’s the number of times a search result gets clicked, divided by how many views (or impressions) the search result has received.

SEO is not only about search engines but good SEO practices improve the user experience and usability of a web site. Users trust search engines and having a presence in the top positions for the keywords the user is searching, increases the web site’s trust.
