CAT Exam Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Common Admission Test (CAT), candidates must meet the following requirements:
1. Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD) from a recognized university.
Final Year Students: Students in the final year of their bachelor’s degree can also apply, provided they complete their degree before the admission process.
2. Age Limit
There is no specific age limit to apply for the CAT exam.
3. Number of Attempts
Candidates can attempt the CAT exam any number of times, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.
Important Notes
Recognition: The degree must be from a university recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
Equivalence Certificate: Candidates with a degree from foreign universities must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

2. Age Limit
There is no age limit to appear for the CAT exam.
3. Professional Degrees
Candidates with professional degrees like CA (Chartered Accountant), CS (Company Secretary), or ICWA (Cost and Works Accountant) are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the minimum percentage criteria.
4. Nationality
Indian Nationals as well as foreign nationals can apply for the CAT exam. Foreign candidates, however, may need to check if they have additional requirements from specific institutions.
5. Reservations
Certain reservations are in place for various categories:
15% of seats for SC candidates
7.5% of seats for ST candidates
27% of seats for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates
10% of seats for EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) candidates
5% of seats for PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates
