Malta offers some of the world’s finest cuisine. While the cuisine of Malta’s neighbors is far more well represented in the U.S. (Italian and Greek restaurants are more plentiful stateside than Maltese restaurants), Maltese dishes are fresh, seasonal and delicious.

Along with high quality and standard of life, Malta has consistently been ranked as the 2nd safest country in the world in terms of its vulnerability to and the ability to tackle natural disasters by the World Risk Report.

As of January 8th, 2019, Maltese citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 182 countries and territories, ranking the Maltese passport 9th in the world according to the Henley Passport Index.

A Malta passport gives visa-free access to 186 countries, including the Schengen countries, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Most people do not need professional assistance to apply for residency, as the application process is fairly straightforward and easy now that Malta is a member of the EU.
According to recent statistics, 88% of people in Malta can speak English. It’s also one of Malta’s two official languages and since government services are available in English, language is one of the easiest parts of living here.
To qualify, the following requirements must be fulfilled: A minimum age of 18 years for all applicants. A contribution of at least EUR 600,000 for a minimum residence period of 36 months or EUR 750,000 for a minimum of 12 months.
If you have a Malta Permanent Residency, You have to live in Malta for five years before you can start an application to become a citizen. You can get Malta Citizenship within 12 to 18 months through the Malta Citizenship for Exceptional Services Programme (by Investing in Malta).

How much does Malta citizenship cost?

Applicants must contribute €600,000 or €750,000 to the Government of Malta, donate to the National Government Charitable Organizations the amount of €10,000, and rent or buy a qualifying property in Malta with a purchase price of at least €700,000 or annual rental of €16,000.

To be granted citizenship, applicants commit to retaining a residence in Malta for five years from the date they are issued an official certificate of citizenship.

Full-time undergraduate courses are free of charge to citizens of Malta and the European Union. Also, Maltese students who are enrolled in higher education courses in Malta are entitled to a stipend.

A high-income country, Malta offers good job prospects for both high and low skilled workers across a variety of industries. The wages in Malta can be lower than average across Europe, but can go much further for you thanks to a generally lower cost of living than in other high-income countries.

Most state healthcare services in Malta are free. Prescribed medicine is free when you’re a hospital inpatient and for 3 days after you’re discharged. After that, you pay for prescriptions. How much you pay depends on the medicine and is set by the Maltese government.
