Your daughter can apply to bring you to Canada as visitors or sponsor you for permanent residence.

First, parents and grandparents who apply need to have a child or grandchild who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

It is a long-term, multiple-entry visa for parents and grandparents of permanent residents or Canadian citizens. The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa (Super Visa) is a temporary resident permit that allows parents and grandparents to stay for up to 2 years in Canada per visit. It is valid for up to 10 years. A regular multiple-entry visa is also valid for up to 10 years, but only allows stays of up to 6 months per visit.

The processing time for the Parents and Grandparents program is based on how long Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) expects to process complete applications already in the system. The projected processing time for the program is 20 to 24 months.

If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, age 18 or over, you can sponsor certain family members to become Canadian permanent residents. If you become a permanent resident, you can live, study and work in Canada.

If you submit the interest to sponsor form and you’re invited to submit a complete application, you can sponsor your parents and grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada. If you do, you must: support them and their dependents financially. make sure they don’t need social assistance from the government.

As a senior citizen, you can visit Canada to stay with your daughter who is a Permanent Resident (PR) holder. However, the duration of your stay will be subject to the terms and conditions of the visa or entry permit you obtain. Typically, visitors to Canada are allowed to stay for up to six months at a time on a visitor visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA). If you wish to stay longer than six months, you may need to apply for an extension of your stay as a visitor.

Alternatively, if your daughter is a Canadian citizen or a PR holder, she may be able to sponsor you for permanent residency in Canada through the Family Class sponsorship program. This would allow you to live with her in Canada permanently. However, the sponsorship process can be lengthy and has specific eligibility requirements that must be met.

It’s essential to consult with Canadian immigration authorities or an immigration lawyer to understand your options and the requirements for visiting or immigrating to Canada as a senior citizen wanting to stay with your daughter.
